Spring has well and truly sprung – there’s even a hint of summer in the air – so time for some Days Out around Strangford!

The National Trust properties in our area have some great days out in Spring:

Castle Ward (closest to us – just down the road in fact!) has “Ramble with our Ranger” days from 1-2.00 pm during spring – no charge but do book in advance at 02844881204.

In May there is a wonderful water-driven Corn Mill at Castle Ward bursts into life on National Mills Weekend. Come and see how flour used to be made on the estate. Again standard admission or members is free.

For more Days Out around Strangford in Spring there’s Mount Stewart – just a hop across on the Strangford ferry to Portaferry, and a beautiful scenic drive along the western shore of the Ards Penninsula will take you there.

Go to https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/days-out/northern-ireland for more spring activities.

Note from us: It’s really worth joining the National Trust for your visit to the Strangford Lough area, or indeed to Northern Ireland as there are so many beautiful places to visit from stately homes to long sandy beaches to the Giant’s Causeway and Game of Thrones locations! All free admission to members, so if you are planning to spend time in several National Trust run properties, or even to visit one over several days, membership is really good value.
